Need a few tips about this tournament.

Is it wise to use target sight or hunting sight is better?

If using target sight, which distance's  sight is easier to off set for various distance?

What is the time frame to shoot one station?

What kind of target face?

How is the scoring system?

Hope that anyone would help.

Thank you.

Wah....so serious ar??

Need a few tips about this tournament.

Is it wise to use target sight or hunting sight is better?

I am going to use a Tgt sight b'cos I can change the range quickly.

If using target sight, which distance's  sight is easier to off set for various distance?

Ha ha ha...depends on the bow that U hv. If it is a high power bow, the offset(difference may be very little betwn 10-40m)

What is the time frame to shoot one station?

You have to execute your shots within a fixed time frame...just like Tgt shooting.

What kind of target face?

Animal faces

How is the scoring system?

Who cares?? Just for the fun of hitting the faces.

For all sanctioned 3D shooting events, the scoring shall be as follows:

Arrow must at least touch the circle.

10 – Circle inside vital area. Arrow must at least touch circle.

8 – Vital area other than the 10 point circle. Arrow must at least touch the vital area line.

5 – Remainder of the animal touching body colour.

0 – A hit in the horn or hoof not touching body colour, any other miss, or glance off.

Both scorekeepers will score the targets before the arrows are pulled. Early pulled arrows will score a zero. Repeated offence will result in the shooter being disqualified.

Tie Scores

Individual Competition

In case of a tie in the individual competition, one (1) tiebreak arrow will be shot on a target decided by the Organising Committee. If still tied, one more arrow will be shot, if the scores are still equal, the arrow nearest to the central X of the little circle will determine the winner. If only one shooter is present at the shoot-off, he/she will be declared the winner.

Happy Shooting.

Hi

I would prefer using a hunting pin for sighting.

A fast (300+ fps) high poundage bow (60 - 70lbs) should give U a difference of slightly more then a foot over 10 - 40 meters distance.

Thus a single pin will be sufficient. Learning to use the sight's housing as a range finder will give U an advantage.

Practise with a target face which is the same size as that to be used. They will always be more or less the same in diameter on the vitals.

The size of the target in the housing of the sight should be memorised. This will thus be yr range finder. Remember the size of the target for 10m, 20m, 30m & 40m. I found using another pin to mark the base of the target when doing this helps. So although it might seem that I am shooting with 2 or 3 pins, I am only shooting with 1.

U will thus also have to remember where the single pin would have to sit on the target at each distance.

Of course this will not give U perfect results but I feel that this is better then using a target sight which magnifies the image and thus does not show U the relative size according to distance.

Well this is my prefered method and surely it might differ from others.
